Two men arrested for trafficking meth

From staff reports

A year-long drug trafficking investigation resulted in the arrest of two men in Clarkston Thursday afternoon.

Detectives from the Quad Cities Drug Task Force observed Rigoberto G. Sanchez, 31, and his uncle, Jose A. Rivera, 35, exchange nearly a pound of methamphetamine for $9,000 in cash.

The detectives arrested and searched the men after stopping the 2010 Toyota Prius Rivera was driving. They found the money from the drug deal in an inside pocket of Sanchez’s coat.

Sanchez and Rivera were booked into the Asotin County Jail, and bond was set at $250,000 for each of them.

The Quad Cities Drug Task Force is partially funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, a sector of the U.S. Department of Justice. It operates in counties in Southeastern Washington and Western Idaho.
