A 23-year-old woman was arrested Sunday night for assaulting a friend who tried to stop her from driving drunk.

Kelsey M. Hoidysz was arrested for fourth-degree assault around midnight outside a residence on Northeast Terre View Drive.

Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said Hoidysz was intoxicated and trying to drive home, but her friends intervened. Police responded when she used physical force to counter their efforts, Tennant said.

Hoidysz was issued a criminal citation and released.
