Police arrested a Pullman resident for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The arrest occurred after 21-year-old Connor Lacey crashed his car into a tree on Orchard Drive near North Fairway Lane, said Pullman Police Sergeant Jake Opgenorth.

Opgenorth said he was transported to the Pullman Police Department where he was issued a citation for DUI and released on his own recognizance, meaning he was released without having to pay bail.

Lacey provided two breath samples, Opgenorth said, the result of the first sample was a .127 and the result of the second sample was a .131.

Both samples exceeded the .08 blood alcohol concentration legal limit in Washington.

Opgenorth said Lacey went too fast to turn a corner and hit a tree, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

Lacey suffered no injuries but his passenger, another 21-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, said Opgenorth.

“The officers felt like the driver and the passenger were lucky to walk away from this,” Opgenorth said.
