Cougars compete in two meets over weekend
WSU track heads to Seattle, Albuquerque, in fourth meet of season

After a record-breaking performance at home, WSU track and field prepares for their weekend road meets in Seattle, Washington, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
At the WSU Indoor, many athletes finished in the top 10. Junior Emmanuel Wells Jr. set a new school record in the 60-meter dash at 6.69 seconds and freshman Charisma Taylor jumped 41-feet-1-and-three-fourths-inch, setting a new WSU freshman indoor record for triple jump.
Junior Jordyn Tucker set a new personal record in the 60-meter and senior Chrisshnay Brown set a personal record in the shot put.
The athletes heading to Seattle will compete in the UW Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor. The athletes traveling to Albuquerque will compete in the New Mexico Team Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The UW Invitational starts with the men’s heptathlon at 1 p.m. Friday. The women’s pentathlon starts at 1:30 p.m. The women’s invite distance medley relay and the men’s invite distance medley relay will wrap up the Friday events.
At 10 a.m. Saturday the UW Invitational opens with the men’s heptathlon. Other events starting at 10 a.m. include men’s weight throw, women’s long jump and men’s long jump. The women’s invite 4×400-meter relay and the men’s invite 4×400-meter relay will wrap up Saturday’s events.
The New Mexico Team Invitational starts with the women’s weight throw, women’s high jump and men’s high jump at 9:30 a.m. The field events will end with men’s shot put and the running events will start at noon.
Opening with the women’s 600-meters, the running events will finish with the men’s 4×400-meter relay and women’s 4×400 meter relay. Schedules for both meets are tentative.
The Cougars will return home for the Cougar Indoor Feb. 1-2 at the Indoor Practice Facility in Pullman, Washington.
