Washington State Troopers accepting applicants

From staff reports

Washington State Patrol is accepting applicants across the state to test to become troopers in late February and early March.

Spokane testing, the closest testing location to Pullman, is on Feb. 25 at 8 a.m. at Spokane Community College. However, according to a video on Trooper J. Sevigney’s twitter, applicants can test at any of the testing locations, including Lynwood and Burien.

In the video, Trooper Kyle Wood, recruiter for the Washington State Patrol in Eastern Washington, said those interested can apply at the Trooper Stories website or the Washington State Patrol website.

Wood said troopers will send applicants an email directing them to the Public Safety Testing website where applicants will pick a test date.

Wood said those wanting to apply should be mature, with no underage drinking record and a good work history.

According to the Troopers Stories website, applicants are required to be high school graduates, at least 19.5 years old, have a valid driver’s license with no felonies or DUIs and pass various fitness tests. The position also requires good moral character, communication skills, creative problem-solving skills and a passion for helping others.

The next cadet testing is in Lynwood on Feb. 21.
