From staff reports

eaders for the Solar Decathlon will unveil the WSU home exhibit for the U.S. Department of Energy competition today.

Those who attend will be given the opportunity to ask questions, interact with the members of the WSU Solar Decathlon team and learn about the implications of renewable technology, Camren Richards stated in an email.

The Solar Decathlon is on Oct. 5 – 15 in Denver, according to their website.

Fourteen international collegiate teams competing will progress through 10 contests that challenge the students to design, build and promote a modular, solar-powered home for the urban environment in their region, according to the website.

Richards said that the Cougars will face the unique challenges of creating a home for the Pacific-Northwest region in the multidisciplinary competition, which will grant $2 million in rewards.

The exhibit’s unveiling will take place at 4:30 p.m. today on the ground floor of Carpenter Hall.
