WSU health insurance premiums incorrect

From staff reports

WSU employees may see incorrect information on their paycheck stubs regarding their life insurance premiums.

MetLife, Washington state’s new health care provider, could not process all the life insurance enrollment forms between the end of the insurance open enrollment period on Dec. 16, 2016, and the monthly billing cycle, according to a MetLife FAQs page updated on Jan. 26.

Those whose forms were still in process after pay-roll cut off, did not receive deduction for their 2017 life insurance premium, which will now be divided equally across February, March and April, according to the FAQs page.

WSU encourages employees to review their coverage and verification status in the Group Life Insurance tab through the MetLife MyBenefits portal, according to a WSU news release.

The site will “calculate the twice monthly premium by dividing the monthly amount in half,” WSU stated in the news release.

Updates will be made to upcoming paychecks.
