Man arrested for blocking wife’s airways

From Staff Reports

A man was arrested Saturday night after he physically assaulted his wife outside Pullman High School, Pullman Police Sgt. Sam Sorem said.

Randal J. Woltering, 58, of Pullman, was charged with second-degree assault for allegedly interfering with his wife’s ability to breathe.

Police responded at about 7 p.m. to a report from Pullman Regional Hospital, where the woman went after the assault occurred. Sorem said the woman had no apparent injuries other than minor bruises on her legs.

Sorem said Woltering and his wife were driving to their home in Pullman when they began to argue. He said they pulled over near the high school and fought inside the car.

Woltering reported no injuries and was taken to Whitman County Jail.
