No.18 WSU volleyball takes down ASU

From staff reports

The No. 18 WSU volleyball team beat the Arizona State Sun Devils Wednesday in Tempe, Arizona, with a final score set of 3-0.

The Cougars dominated the match, winning with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 to complete the sweep of the Sun Devils. With this win, the Cougs ended their three-game losing streak.

Senior outside hitter Kyra Holt led the way for the Cougars, scoring 13 kills with a hitting percentage of .393 and had four blocks.

Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Mims led the Cougars in blocks with seven and added six kills.

As a team, the Cougars played a clean match, only committing 13 attack errors, opposed to ASU’s 27.

A strong suit for the Cougars has been their blocking ability. It has been a rare occasion that the Cougars get out-blocked. Once again the Cougars led the match with 13 blocks, compared to ASU’s seven.

The WSU volleyball team, now (16-5, 6-3), will remain in Arizona for their matchup against the University of Arizona at 6 p.m. Friday. The match will air live on the Pac-12 Network.
