Prostitution sting leads to three arrests
July 6, 2016
Pullman police arrested three people during a prostitution sting on Friday night, following a text conversation between the alleged prostitute and an officer.
Cmdr. Chris Tennant said the officer spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Hilltop Inn. Knowing the inn had been used as a prostitution site several times over the past six months, he said the officer checked backpage.com and discovered an ad promoting prostitution.
The officer texted the listed number to arrange a meeting at the Hilltop with the prostitute, Tennant said, and police stopped the car on Terre View Drive. They arrested a 24-year-old woman for prostitution, drug possession, driving drunk and driving without a license.
Police also arrested a 23-year-old man for felony second-degree promoting prostitution and driving with a suspended license, and a 30-year-old woman for drug possession.
Tennant said officers found what may have been heroin and methamphetamine in the vehicle. The substances will be sent to a lab for testing.
