Campus Street to close for rest of May

From staff reports

Summer means construction for Pullman, and WSU will have its share of upgrades over the coming weeks.

Connection of an Avista utility line to the Chinook Student Center will interrupt traffic on Campus Street Monday through May 31.

Buses, parking and all non-emergency traffic will be re-routed during this closure, according to a WSU news release. Emergency vehicles will be re-routed along Thatuna Street if necessary.

“This is going to be the biggest road closure for the project,” WSU Construction Manager Lead Michael LaVielle said. “There might be smaller deliveries, but nothing to stop traffic to this extent.”

Work on the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center will also cause traffic disturbances, as it’s connected to the campus Storm System, according to another WSU news release.

This will start at the intersection of NE Stadium Way and Spokane Street, and traffic will be down to one lane on Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pedestrian and bike paths will be closed and re-routed through Spokane Street and the east side of Main Street, according to the release.
