Weekend crime report

From staff reports

This weekend, Pullman Police responded to a violent incident at Stubblefield’s and a report of a rape.

Arrest at Stubblefield’s

Pullman police arrested an Auburn man early Sunday morning for severely assaulting a Stubblefield’s employee.

Mark Njoroge Nyutu, 24, was asked to leave the College Hill bar for being heavily intoxicated, said Pullman Police Sgt. Dan Dornes.

Dornes said when a staff member began to escort the man out after refusing to leave, he became violent and began fighting with the employee.

Dornes said Nyutu hit the employee over the head with a beer bottle.

The employee suffered severe lacerations to his head and hands, as well as a swollen eye. He was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital.

Nyutu was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree burglary and harassment.

Rape reported

A woman reported being raped over the weekend.

An officer responded to the Pullman Regional Hopsital emergency room but it is unclear whether the 18-year-old WSU student underwent a forensic examination kit.

Dornes said the investigation is still open, and that he cannot comment on whether he knows the location the incident occurred or if the victim will press charges.
