Cougars remain tied for seventh at the Pac-12 Championships

The battle continues on the Ruby Hills Golf Course as 11 of the toughest teams in the nation compete for the ultimate title of Pac-12 Champion.

After two rounds of play in Pleasanton, California, the WSU women’s golf team remains tied for seventh place among No. 13 rival University of Washington and No.12 Stanford.

The Cougars shot for a 294 Tuesday, bringing their total score up to 581. USC remains in the lead after scoring a 275, bringing their total score 23 under par at 553. Arizona and UCLA are now tied for second place with team scores of 566, 10 under par.

Sophomore Alivia Brown shot for par at 72, bringing her individual score to 142, tying her for 13th place with four other golfers including Washington’s Charlotte Thomas and Ying Luo.

Junior Cherokee Kim closed out the day tied for 18th after going one over par at 73, bringing her total score up to 143.

Nine golfers currently share 29th place including senior Monica Huang who scored 72 for the day giving her a 146 after the two rounds. Huang improved Monday’s score by two strokes when she shot a 74 after 18 holes.

Senior Nani Yanagi dropped from 32nd to 51st Tuesday after scoring a 79, seven over the 72-stroke par. Yanagi shares the 152 score with three other golfers.

Freshman BreeLin Wanderscheid remains in 55th place after Monday’s score of 81 and Tuesday’s score of 77.
