Police officer injured in accident

From staff reports

A Pullman police officer was injured in a collision with another vehicle on State Route 26 Sunday afternoon.

According to a collision memo from Washington State Patrol, PPD officer Heidi Lambley was traveling westbound on State Route 26 near LaCrosse and activated her emergency lights and pulled over to the shoulder of the road to make a U-turn at about 5:30 p.m.

Cameron Hoskins was heading west behind Lambley and Lambley turned into the side of his vehicle while making the U-turn according to the memo. Both vehicles were towed.

PPD Cmdr. Chris Tennant said Lambley was taken to the hospital in Colfax but was released later that evening.

State Patrol Sgt. Courtney Shawley said at this point in the ongoing investigation, it appears Lambley was at fault in the collision.

Shawley said the PPD is going to conduct an internal investigation into whether Lambley followed protocol when she attempted to make the U-turn to pursue somebody speeding in the opposite direction.
