Funding for Greek Week

From staff reports

In an 18-1-0 vote the ASWSU Senate passed a Crimson One-Time Grant for the United Greek Council for Greek Week.

The UGC was granted $2,250 to go toward food and workshops for the week-long event. UGC does not have much funding and the event is mapped out well, Senator Allen Cherry said.

Cherry said Greek Week is open only to UGC members. The organization has grown by 150 percent over time and continues to do so, Cherry said.

“I truly believe this will be a memorable experience,” Cherry said.

The events will start on March 21, running from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day.

In a 19-0-0 vote the Senate unanimously appointed Alyssa Norris as Honors College delegate. Norris said she has a connection with the Honors College students, having attended business meetings with governors and regents of WSU as a delegate and representative of the college.

Norris said she wants to create transparency within the college and increase awareness to those who are not in college yet. She said she wants to improve the retention rate of Honors College students, specifically focusing on freshmen and sophomores.
