Bell will ring in Pittsburgh

Curtis Calhoun Evergreen columnist

Start – Le’Veon Bell, RB, Steelers

Bell has had a consistent three weeks, posting double-digit fantasy point performances, according to ESPN standard scoring. He has seemingly grabbed a tight hold of the backfield in Pittsburgh, and the 2013 second-round draft pick is finally coming into his own. Bell faces a Detroit Lions run defense this week, and although they rank seventh in the league against the run, they have struggled on the road in tough environments. Bell has also been utilized in the passing game in Pittsburgh, which the Lions have struggled against. Start Bell this week with the terrible towels waving.

Sit – Ryan Matthews, RB, Chargers

Matthews had a bounce-back week against the Broncos, rushing for a touchdown in a goal-line situation. Matthews is the primary weapon in goal-line situations for the Chargers, as fellow running back Danny Woodhead has struggled when given opportunities to get into the end zone. However, Matthews hasn’t been utilized enough in the Chargers offensive game plan, and in an offense that relies on Danny Woodhead in the passing game more than Matthews, Matthews will continue to suffer unless the passing game suddenly stalls. Against a Dolphins front seven that is arguably one of the best in the league, Matthews will struggle to perform on the few opportunities he might find.

Start – Nick Foles, QB, Eagles

Foles has been the best fantasy quarterback the last few weeks, throwing for a total of ten touchdowns. With Michael Vick still banged-up and out indefinitely, Foles is not only the starting quarterback in Philadelphia, but he might also have won over head coach Chip Kelly. That means he might keep the starting job, even when Vick decides to come back. Facing a divisional opponent in the Redskins at home this week, they have struggled putting pressure on the quarterback and especially on the road. Look for Foles to keep his hot streak going in Week 11.

Sit – Eli Manning, QB, Giants

Manning and the Giants have looked absolutely pathetic this season, especially in the last few weeks. Manning has posted back-to-back single-digit fantasy point performances, according to ESPN.com, and has an offensive line that has looked almost non-existent. The running game and offensive are struggling, so when Manning faces a Packers defense that ranks high in terms of sacks and keeping pressure on the quarterback, he’ll be forced to run wild in Week 11 and will struggle against a ferocious Packers front seven.

Start – Riley Cooper, WR, Eagles

Cooper has broken out in the last two weeks, posting at least 22 fantasy points and at least two touchdowns, according to ESPN standard scoring. With fellow wide receiver DeSean Jackson drawing double teams consistently in the last three weeks, Cooper’s value has increased dramatically and his chemistry with starting quarterback Nick Foles has bloomed. Cooper is also being utilized on vertical passing plays down the field, which gives him more one-on-one opportunities and red-zone opportunities. Look for Cooper to continue his success against a Redskins passing defense that has struggled against deep throws throughout the season.
