Swimming continues success at Pac-12 Championships on Day 2

 The momentum continued for the WSU swimming team on Day 2 of the Pac-12 Championships.

Competition kicked off in Federal Way, Washington at 11 a.m. Thursday morning for the WSU team. The Cougars are competing at the Pac-12 Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

The event began with the preliminaries, opening in the 500-yard freestyle. Junior Kendra Griffin clocked in at 4:51.01, earning her a 19th place finish out of the 45 competitors. Sophomore Rachel Thompson finished with a 26th place time at 4:52.39.

The 200 individual medley followed where junior Addisynn Bursch claimed a 15th place finish, touching the wall at 1:59.87. Stanford freshman Ella Eastin finished first at 1:53.33. Seniors Loree Olson and Presley Wetterstrom claimed 25th and 26th place, finishing within .03 seconds of one another. Olson barely finished ahead of Wetterstrom.

Sophomore Hannah Bruggman placed in 15th in the 50 freestyle finishing at 22.87. 64 swimmers competed in the event, including junior Haley Rose Love who took a 27 place finish.

The Championships will continue on Friday.
