ASWSU passes sexual assault resolution

From staff reports

The ASWSU Senate unanimously passed a resolution showing support for the prevention of sexual assault on WSU’s campus during their weekly meeting, Wednesday.

With Resolution 45-03, the student leaders say that they will strive to educate themselves and their constituents on “issues regarding sexual assault and sexual violence.”

The resolutions emphasizes the need for such a measure by citing statistics, including only 12 percent of sexual assaults on college campuses are reported.

“It is our duty as Cougs to be an active bystander by fostering an attitude that any type of sexual assault is unacceptable in our community,” Senator Garrett Kalt, a sponsor of the resolution, said.
