Red Band Watch program preparing students for emergencies

From staff reports

Washington State students who want to learn how to respond to alcohol-related issues can sign up for free training and CPR certification next week.

WSU Health and Wellness Services is hosting the Red Watch Band program to train and educate students on the proper protocol if there is an emergency. The training will go over legal and alcohol-related facts, as well as common misconceptions.

“The purpose of this is to educate students to be more responsible,” said Shane McFarland, program coordinator for Health and Wellness Services.

McFarland said adult CPR training will be taught and participants will be certified, which can be added to the participants’ resumes.

The training will take place March 9 in the Washington Building room G41 from 5:10 – 8:30 p.m. Students must sign up on CougSync before participating.
