Whitman County reports average of seven COVID-19 cases per day
Total number of cases is 8,855; COVID-19 related hospitalizations falls by 70%

Whitman County has reported 126 cases in the past week, averaging seven cases per day, according to the Whitman County Public Health website.
The county’s average number of cases has increased by 104% since May 9, which brings its running total of cases to 8,855, according to the New York Times.
Although the county is experiencing a spike in cases, the community level of COVID-19 remains low, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 have fallen by 70% to an average of 23 per day, according to the New York Times.
On May 20, Gov. Jay Inslee removed COVID-19 vaccination requirements for outdoor workers, volunteers and contractors who do not deliver health care services, according to the governor’s website. These workers include contracted landscapers, contracted construction workers and volunteer wildland firefighters.
