Welcome back and welcome home, Cougs!
Whether you’ve been a long-time reader or are picking up your first copy of The Daily Evergreen today, your support of student journalism is appreciated. The Evergreen has served the Pullman community for over 100 years, and as editor-in-chief, it’s an honor to continue this publication’s legacy.
Our staff is built of Washington State University students dedicated to informing the public. We strive to deliver objective, honest coverage of local news, events and sports, in addition to featuring individuals, businesses and groups whose stories are worth sharing.
My name is Kedzie Moe and I am working as the editor-in-chief of The Daily Evergreen. I began writing for the Evergreen just last year, finding my footing in our sports section as a beat writer for women’s soccer and track and field. Though I struggled with some self-doubt and my confidence at times, I grew to love it!
I pushed myself beyond sports and rose to the position of copy editor last semester, where I grew more sure of my abilities, and now I’m here.
I’m super excited to see what the staff does this year. With changes in our university’s leadership, an unprecidented athletics season and the usual business of everyday campus life, we are dedicated to providing the community with the facts.
In today’s digital age, the landscape of journalism is ever-changing. Younger crowds are receiving most of their news through their social media pages, and innovative forms of multimedia are used to keep audiences captive and better convey stories than traditional print.
This year, I’m aiming to increase our digital presence to honor these developments. You’ll see more video content alongside our traditional written work, and we’ll explore ways to share stories through social media to keep our student body updated.
I’m looking forward to the challenges that this year will present! If you have any news tips, hiring inquiries or any other questions/comments for me, I am always available by email at [email protected] or [email protected].
