The Pullman Police Department arrested WSU fraternity member Taylor Culbertson Friday night outside the Lambda Chi Alpha house on a charge of felony assault in connection to a fight that occurred on College Hill in October.
Culbertson, who claimed he acted in self-defense, has been charged with felony second degree assault, according to Pullman Radio.
In Washington, second degree assault is a Class B felony, according to Beckwith Law. If convicted, Culbertson faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
Pullman PD responded to reports of the assault just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 20 on 900 NE Colorado Street, according to an Instagram post from Pullman PD. Upon arrival, Pullman police identified two victims who had been assaulted after attempting to break up a fight.
The two victims were identified as a 21-year-old male and his 50-year-old father, according to Big Country News. Both were beaten by a group of college students who ran into the Lambda Chi Alpha house following the assault.
The 21 year old was knocked unconscious during the assault and rushed to Pullman Regional Hospital, according to the Instagram post from Pullman PD. He was treated for a head injury, but is expected to make a full recovery.
