Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity closed by headquarters
December 11, 2017
WSU fraternity Alpha Kappa Lambda was shut down by its national chapter Monday after they were investigated for several risk management violations.
In a news release, CEO of the organization, Jeremy Slivinski, wrote that closing the chapter was not an ideal solution, but that student safety was a priority for both the fraternity and university. The release stated that WSU takes hazing very seriously and that withdrawing recognition from an organization is the most serious action WSU can take in regard to conduct.
The fraternity was suspended in October by the Interfraternity Council following an undisclosed complaint and have been operating in a limited manner since.
