Regents to meet in Seattle on Thursday

WSU President Kirk Schulz will host a dinner and reception to honor current and former WSU regents in Seattle on Thursday.

Schulz and First Lady Noel Schulz invited the regents to a special meeting that will recognize their work and dedication to WSU’s past and future endeavors, said Desiree Jacobsen, executive assistant to the Board of Regents.

WSU spokesperson Phil Weiler said the dinner is a chance to reestablish the relationship between former regents — including student regents — and the university, and to thank them for their service.

“This is a chance for them to reconnect,” Weiler said, “and have them provide feedback on what the university should be doing.”

He said the public meeting notice the university released was slightly misleading, because the regents are not planning to vote on or discuss any formal university business.

Jacobson said the public is welcome, but there will be no opportunity for public comment because there is no formal agenda or voting items.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle.
