The ASWSU Senate approved changes to the election bylaws that require an election board of at least five members and no more than 10 at their meeting Wednesday.

The installation of new water bottle refill stations throughout campus was approved as well, after 87 percent of 300 student responses indicated that campus would benefit from these stations.

Students believed that water bottle refill stations would promote sustainability and encourage healthy living throughout campus.

Also approved, was a tutoring support program that would serve international students. WSU currently represents 92 different countries and has 983 undergraduates that would directly benefit from tutoring in their native language. It is believed that this program would attract international students to WSU. ASWSU supports this program to help academic endeavors of international students.

“Sometimes it is the content, but sometimes it is the language that interferes were their success in classes,” said a representative from the International Center, referring to international students.

She argued sometimes there are situations where the students understand the topics and material in their native language but do not understand how it translates to English. She said this program could help student retention and give them a support system that would help their academic careers.
