Community mourns WSU student who died on Sunday

Fraternity brothers and other friends of Kyler Robinson lit candles to pay their respects.

From staff reports

Dozens of students and friends gathered for a candlelit vigil where they honored the memory of Kyler Robinson.

Robinson, a WSU student and Phi Delta Theta member, died Sunday morning. The vigil took place in front of the fraternity’s house on Colorado Street.

“We are greatly sorrowed by the loss of our brother yesterday,” Phi Delta Theta publicly stated on its Twitter page. “Rest easy, Kyler. You will be missed by us all. In coelo quies est.”

In coelo quies est, translated in Latin, means “In heaven there is rest.”

Monday afternoon Phi Delta Theta set up a gofundme account in order to raise money for the funeral and associated costs. As of 11 p.m. Wednesday, more than $8,000 had been raised.

“It is our sincere hope that through your donations, the Robinson family and all close to him will be greatly aided through the grieving process,” the fraternity said online.

Friends and community members have responded on social media outlets, tagging Robinson and the fraternity chapter. The responses have been both shock and remorse.
