Man found unconscious at Compton Union Building

WSU police responded to the call, but were unable to revive the man

Update 2/25/23 11:04 a.m.: The cause of death of the 39-year-old man was natural causes due to known medical conditions. There is no ongoing investigation, according to a press release from the Whitman County Coroner.

WSU Police responded to a call about an unconscious man at 3:10 p.m. Friday at the Compton Union Building (CUB) on campus. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 39-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive. The officers performed CPR until Pullman Fire Department paramedics arrived to take over, according to a news release from WSU Police Department. 

Paramedics were unable to revive the man, according to the release. 

WSU PD is actively working with the Whitman County Coroner on an investigation into a cause of death. The name of the man and the cause of death will be released by the Whitman County Coroner, according to the release. 

Based on the available information at this time, WSU PD believes there is no active threat to the community, according to the release. 

“WSU Police will notify the WSU community immediately if there is any change in the initial threat assessment,” the release said.
