The WSU women’s golf team finished in 16th place at the 2023 Chevron Silverado Showdown.

WSU fifth-year Darcy Habgood held the Cougs’ best score, tying for 27th place with Kelly Sim from Northwestern, Adela Cernouek of Texas A&M, and Matilda Svahn from Texas State. Habgood finished with a solid score of 225.

The tournament took place at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California. Of the 17 schools to participate, 10 of them were Pac-12 schools: UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, California, Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado and WSU each participated.

Another solid Coug performance came from Emiko Sverduk. Sverduk golfed a 234, which had her tied for 70th place. Right behind her came WSU’s Lily McCauley who golfed a 235. McCauley tied for 73rd place with Reese Guzman from Pepperdine and Jamie Hsieh from Washington.

No. 16-ranked Northwestern won the team title at the Showdown, as the Wildcats shot nine over 873 to win the tournament by seven strokes. Coming in second place right behind them was Texas A&M out of the Big 12 Conference.

The Cougs will return to action for the Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championship which will be held April 17–19 in Phoenix. The Cougs will be looking to claw their way into first and take control of the Pacific Conference.
