Friday’s field-rush hospitalizes two

Two WSU students were injured after storming the field following the victory over USC.

Pullman Fire Chief Mike Heston said one student broke their ankle and the other hurt their leg after they jumped over the railing and onto the field.

He said personnel had to wait for the field to clear and the tunnels to empty in order for them to reach the injured students.
He said both students were transported by ambulance to Pullman Regional Hospital.

There were similar injuries in previous incidents when students stormed the field, he said. However, he said this time was more difficult because many officers were taking care of furniture fires on College Hill, leaving less personnel available to help the injured students.
