An Idaho Department of Corrections inmate escaped a job site on University of Idaho’s campus Tuesday in Moscow, Idaho.
According to according to a post on its Facebook page, the Moscow Police Department said the inmate, Wayland Savage, 34, was imprisoned for burglary and grand theft. A WSU campus-wide alert described Savage as “low-risk”
Police asked those inside the Theophilus Tower residence hall to exit immediately as a search went underway, and for citizens to avoid the area.
“MPD was assisted by the City of Pullman Police Department, Latah County Sheriff’s Office, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office , the KCSO K9 team, Whitman County Regional SWAT Team and the Idaho Department of Corrections CERT Team,” the post said.
In an updated version of the post, MPD said the PPD located Savage and took him back into custody.
According to the PPD daily log, Pullman authorities received a call from the Chevron at 1455 S.E. Bishop Blvd. after Savage was believed to have been inside the business.
PPD arrested Savage, who was charged with escape of the first degree. The log said Savage was taken to the Pullman Police Holding Facility before being transported to Whitman County Jail.
