Judge Gary Libey of the Whitman County Superior Court has set 30-year-old Ashley Myers’ bail at $1 million following her arrest last weekend in relation to the killing of 55-year-old Coeur d’Alene man Kenneth Allen near Colfax.

Merritt Decker, Whitman County senior deputy prosecutor, said they have not decided on the exact charge they want to pursue going forward.

“We are going to charge her with murder,” he said. “We are not sure on what degree yet.”

Myers’ next appearance is scheduled for Friday, which Decker said will likely be an arraignment. The prosecutor’s office has until Thursday to decide on a charge, he said. Myers has not posted bail as of Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Myers near the intersection of Colfax Airport Road and State Route 26 last Friday after receiving reports of a woman waving a gun near a car. Allen was found shot dead inside the vehicle, and a Whitman County Sheriff’s Office press release stated Myers indicated to officers she had shot Allen.

Officers found methamphetamine and a handgun near the vehicle.
