A brand new ‘do, a brand new you: Best hair stylist

From staff reports

Not many people can wake up with good hair, but for WSU students, there are people in Pullman to help.

Hair by James took first prize for Best Hairstylist. The owner, James Cofer, studied cosmetology in his hometown of Lewiston, Idaho, because he said he was looking for a profession that was creative and artistic.

“Anyone that has seen me work on hair will tell you it’s unique,” Cofer said. “It’s amazing what you can create when you think outside the box.”

Cofer said it’s a great experience to talk to his clients, be a part of their lives, and watch them leave his shop with new confidence and a little swagger from a good cut.

Logan Trott from the Blades and Fades salon also placed as a favorite. Trott said his business is very customer-friendly, complying with client desires and teaching them about different styles that would work well based on face shape, head shape and even height.

“We’re very family based,” said Trott of his business, “and a lot of people like that.”

This statement rings especially true when the entire Trott family comes into the salon each day, including their dog who likes to sit by the door.
