Welcome back to school!

I am sure that you are excited to get back into the classes, friend drama, dining hall food, tests…

Well anyway, I am excited to have you back and I have a recipe that I dredged from the very depths of my mind. We are not going to make a full meal today. Instead, we are going to delve into one of my favorite, but often-forgotten, snacks.

While there is a warning in the title, I have to caveat that there are a lot of different variations of this tasty treat, and even more names that it goes by. No matter what you call it, muddy buddies or puppy chow, you should know how delicious of a treat this is.

For those who are uninformed, muddy buddies is essentially Chex Cereal with peanut butter, melted chocolate and powdered sugar. Sure there are a few variations that add things here or there but nothing that changes the real meat…or Chex Mix of the recipe. Make sure that you follow the instructions as despite this being an easy recipe, skipping a step can cause the toppings to not set just right.

Hope you enjoy it!

INGREDIENTS

1-2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup creamy peanut butter

6 cups Rice Chex Cereal

1-2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

In a microwave-safe bowl, or in a pot, melt together the chocolate and peanut butter. You can also substitute dark chocolate depending on your preference, but the end goal is a mixture of melted peanut butter and chocolate.

Add three cups of Chex Cereal to a large bowl and pour one cup of your mixture over the cereal. Mix this thoroughly. Repeat with the rest of the cereal and add the rest of the mixture.

Add half of the powdered sugar to the chocolate-colored cereal. Cool for 15 minutes to an hour in the fridge. Take it out and add the rest of the powdered sugar to your enjoyment.

Enjoy!
