A car accident on Saturday injured three individuals and caused a brief road closure at the intersection of Grimes Way and Terre View Drive.

The cause of Saturday’s accident, an undisclosed medical emergency, is still under investigation, which may be finished in the next few days, said Dawn Daniels, WSU Police Department assistant chief.

“We believe the driver had a medical emergency that caused him to crash into another vehicle. The occupants of the other vehicle had minor injuries,” she said.

The driver was later airlifted to Spokane for treatment. WSU PD is not sure how many people were injured in the other vehicle, but Daniels said two or three occupants sustained injuries. There were no other injuries outside of those in the vehicles.

Daniels said the crash took place after the football game, and WSU PD received a call notifying officers of the incident at 10:14 p.m.

The street’s closure only lasted for a few hours and was reopened at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Daniels said.
