Co-op to host fundraising carnival

The Pullman Good Food Co-op will begin public fundraising to bring the co-op to fruition Friday with its Co-optastic Carnival. This will be the first chance for community members and students to purchase co-op memberships.

Co-op Board President Destiny Sternod said she believes any time a community can come together to create something, it brings them together in a deeper way than other events do. She said creating a co-op with the community will connect Pullman because consumers get a say in the way the co-op will be run.

“Cooperatives aren’t based on a hierarchy, they’re based on everyone cooperating,” Sternod said. “The carnival is a place where students who are excited and townspeople alike can come and support the co-op while also having a lot of fun. I always look forward to connecting with people now because it encourages them to be involved later.”

The Co-optastic Carnival will take place from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Pine Street Plaza. Admission is free and open to the public. Salad contest tasting is $5 and game participation is by recommended donation.
