The holiday season is nigh, and with it comes countless selections of beauty gift sets.

Each brand builds a tempting collection of its best-selling products and sells it for a great deal. But I’d argue Clinique is best, for its proximity to WSU students and appeal to a wide variety of skin types.

The Clinique counter at the Bookie has its own holiday sets. I met up with Julia Rogozhkina, Clinique counter manager, and Kate Poulton, Clinique specialist/consultant, to find the perfect holiday beauty set.

Consumers know Clinique for its skincare lines, including the three-step system, which was introduced for four skin types: dry, dry combination, combination oily, and oily. For the holiday season, Clinique is selling three-step gift sets that include its Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush and makeup bag for $99.

If you struggle with acne, Poulton recommends the Clean Skin, Clear Skin Gift Set, which includes the Clinique Acne Solutions gel, lotion and treatment, in addition to the Clinique Sonic System Acne Solutions Deep Cleansing Brush, sold for $99.

Poulton said the formula of the Acne Solutions products differ from the three-step for oily skin because the Acne Solutions contains salicylic acid, a chemical used to treat acne.

Clinique also sells its Great Skin Everywhere Gift Set, designed for women who travel frequently. The set includes full and travel sizes of its popular skincare products, such as facial soap, lotion and moisturizer. Each set is targeted toward Clinique’s specific three-step skin types, so there is one kit for dry and dry combination, and one for combination oily and oily skin. The kit is $66, and includes a makeup bag.

Other skincare gift sets include the Be Your Brightest Gift Set, which includes four products from the Turnaround line meant to moisturize and revitalize skin, for $56.50.

For added moisture, the Moisture Favourites Gift Set includes products from the Moisture Surge product line, which are developed for those who need extra hydration of the face and eyes, for $49.50.

Now for the makeup sets. The Pretty Wow, Pretty Now Gift Set includes some of Clinique’s best-selling products and some limited edition items. In the set, Clinique included a limited edition eyeshadow quad, a popular blush shade, mascara, eyeshadow stick, lipgloss and makeup remover. Including a makeup bag, the set costs $39.50.

The Skinny Meets Chubby Gift Set pairs three of Clinique’s popular eyeshadow Chubby Sticks with three eyeliner Skinny Sticks, for $27.50. The Days of the Week Lipstick Gift Set includes seven long-wear lipsticks, ranging from baby pinks to rich reds, for $39.50.

In addition to skincare and makeup gift sets, Clinique also sells fragrance gift sets, and men’s skincare gift sets.

Clinique has something for just about every makeup routine. And it’s a quick stop in the Bookie, which makes holiday shopping a snap for busy students as finals approach.
